A group of students from Dover Bay Secondary School have horse-danced their way to victory in a classroom makeover contest.

Earlier this week, a video of students and staff produced for the annual Flip Your Classroom contest won the grand prize of $30,000 worth of educational software and hardware.

“As soon as I heard, I ran to the PA and announced it in the building and the building screamed and yelled and went crazy,” said Denise Montgomery, the teacher who found the contest and pitched it to students.

The school’s video — a parody of PSY’s “Gangnam Style” — was produced in October, and features over 300 students from different classes. The school’s dance teacher, Tina Roberts, taught them the moves from the popular video, and they changed the song’s lyrics to reflect the theme of technology-enhanced learning.
