James MacIntyre, who bought the business along with its sister company, Studio Kitchens & Design Ltd., a little more than a year ago, received delivery of a new state-of-the-art cutting and edging machine called the Titan Fab Centre on Monday.
He said the large machine, which combines the cutting and edging processes into one for the first time and costs "about the price of house," is the newest in the industry's technology and will cut the time it takes for PIGF to cut granite for commercial and residential projects from four to six weeks to just seven to 10 days.
MacIntyre said the Titan, which was made and shipped from Park Industries in Minnesota, is the only one of its kind west of Saskatoon.
"The Titan will also save labour hours and allow us to increase volume for more jobs and contracts," he said, while crews from Gorosh Cranes and Westhaul Services carefully unloaded the machine at PIGF's headquarters on Northfield Road.
