Nanaimo BC – Residents of the Greater Nanaimo Area will have the opportunity to influence the future of entrepreneurship in our city and beyond as the Startup Canada entrepreneurial movement reaches Nanaimo BC.

The nation-wide volunteer-run and entrepreneur-led movement to enhance the nation’s competitiveness and prosperity through promoting and strengthening entrepreneurship has been supporting communities across the country as they harness the potential of their local entrepreneurs and develop their potential through a number of local initiatives.

Startup Nanaimo will kick off it’s first initiative, the unConference, on April 6, 2014 on Nanaimo’s very own VIU campus. The unConference aims to bring together some of the area’s brightest minds from across a variety of sectors in business and academia to discuss, influence and promote the future of entrepreneurship in our city. The format of the unConference is designed to facilitate conversation and collaboration amongst participants with the goal of developing definitive ‘next steps’, as opposed to a traditional conference structure where participants attend to listen to speakers.
